Office de Tourisme de Briare

Town along the Loire, at the crossroads of channels (Canal de Briare, lateral to the Loire): aqueduct, train stations of water, locks, lock, residence of the Lords of Canal houses, Harbour, trade. City of enamels.
Briare-le-Canal, ancient medieval square, is a city which has preserved the wealth of its heritage including the famous Pont Canal. Located on the edge of Berry and Puisaye, 150 Km from Paris, Briare is a holiday resort and walks on a special network of waterways (Loire, Canal de Briare, in the Loire Lateral Canal) is the regional capital of waterway tourism.
You will find plenty of activities to discover or practise: cultural (monuments, museums, theatre, cinemobile...), recreation (hiking, fishing, playground, rental boats, cruises, walks or meal...), and sports (tennis, fitness trail, aquatic centre, canoeing...)

The Loire à Vélo

Want to stroll in cycling? Want to discover places filled by nature and fed culture? "The Loire à Vélo" is made for you!

The Loire by bike, it is a huge 800 kilometres long cycle tourist route, a single bikeway in France. Arranged in both directions, it connects Cuffy (at height of Nevers) with Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (opposite Saint-Nazaire). Imagine: it runs through the Centre and Pays de la Loire regions. She flirts with the longest river of France, the Loire Valley, the Valley of marvels which the banks are an inexhaustible mine of treasures

Aquatic centre of Briare

Gray meadows aquatic centre welcomes you to offer you several aquatic activities with a specialized team. Just relax and take your time in this aquatic space.

Open during the summer from July 1 to September 2, 10: 00 to 14: 00 and 15: 00 to 19: 00 Monday to Friday. Saturday 15 h - 19 h and Sunday from 10 h to 13 h and from 14 h to 18 h.

2 Marines and Pont Canal Museum

The Conservatory of the two Marines and the aqueduct Museum presents the history of the navies of Loire and channels: canal of Briare (of Loire in the Seine), side channel and his crossing of the Loire. It is the centre's unique discovery of what was considered as the most important crossroads boatman of France. A visit to a Museum of skippers, channels and the Loire (movies, animated maquettes, scenic reconstitution and aquarium).

Museum mosaic and enamels

The museum traces the history of the factory through production of earthenware, beads, buttons, enamels (Mosaic). Video explaining the current manufacture of enamels and shop.

Rogny seven locks

In 1597, Henri IV and his Prime Minister Sully founded the project to develop on a large scale the then-non-existent waterways. It was to unite the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean and the sleeve. Work began in 1604 under the direction of architect Hugues Cosnier.
In 1880, seven locks were replaced by six others. Seven locks were finally abandoned in 1887.
Seven locks were classified historic Monument on December 19, 1983.

​​​Guédelon, a castle in making

Guédelon Castle is a construction-medieval historical construction of a castle, begun in 1997, according to the techniques and materials used in the middle ages. Architectural project located in Treigny, Yonne, aimed at improving the knowledge of castellology, the method of construction is the castles built in the 13th century medieval (end), starting from a blank site and using only techniques of the time as they were known in Puisaye in Yonne.
